The Intern Program brings together young scientists from around the globe to participate in evolutionary ecology research

Want to get involved?
We seek interns who are keen to pursue graduate studies in ecology and evolution, hoping to gain some additional field research experience before doing so. Research takes place in semi-remote areas of Trinidad sometimes under bad weather conditions. Applicants must be able to live and work well with others. The work involves carrying heavy packs over slippery and steep terrain, so applicants must be in good physical condition and be able to meet the demands of field research under these conditions. Ability to drive a standard transmission vehicle is desirable but not required. Applicants with first-aid/first responder training, skills in automobile maintenance, and construction skills are highly desirable. Please address these skills when applying.
"I initially worked as an intern for the Guppy Project during my MSc, and was given the opportunity and encouragement to perform my own research. Since then, I’ve been back to Trinidad several times, working in different roles within the Guppy Project." Tomos Potter, University of Oxford.
You can view three videos created by one of our past interns, Sam Swanson, on the daily activities of Guppy Project interns by clicking here. A broader collection of videos on Trinidad, the research and seminars can be found on the Media page.

Inquiries and applications can be sent to David Reznick. People wishing to apply should include a cover letter, resume and the names and contact information for at least three referees, at least two of whom are academics.

Resources for future interns (including travel information, what to bring, etc) can be found by clicking here.

If you are a past intern looking to share a testimonial and/or photos, please email Ron Bassar.
